DERA MURAD JAMALI: A senior police official was killed and five other police personnel among them a senior police official were injured in a bomb blast took place inside a police station in Nasirabad district on Thursday.
Talking to journalists, Deputy Inspector General Police Sharjeel Kharal confirmed the incident, saying an explosive was placed in the store of the police station. The explosives exploded, leaving one police official dead and five other police personnel including a station house officer of the police station injured, he said.
The rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the dead and injured to nearby hospital. The explosion was powerful as it was heard from far away. The roof of the police station premises was collapsed in the blast and windowpanes of nearby buildings were shattered, DIG Kharal said, adding the police official died and others suffered injuries as the roof of the police station building fell down on them.
The deceased was identified as Additional SHO Nazir Ahmed Umrani and the injured were recognised as SHO Manzoor Ahmed and other personnel including Somar Khan Pandrani, Haibat Khan Sial, Ghulam Rasool Pichoha and Ahmed Khan. According to doctors, condition of some injured was very serious who were referred to Larkana Civil Hospital.
DIG Kharal, SSP Malik Saleem Ahmed Lehri, Deputy Commissioner Nasir Ahmed Nasar, senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party Mir Sadiq Umrani and senior officials reached the hospital. The police have been investigating into the incident. Further probe was underway.
